When Nick Jonas said ‘Thank U, Next’ to his spot for The Voice season 21, we didn’t expect his fantastic replacement. On Tuesday, NBC and the new judge, Ariana Grande, announced that she’d be replacing Jonas.

Ariana Grande surprised fans this Tuesday when she announced her most recent project on Twitter. The Grammy award-winning singer revealed that she would be joining the judging panel for ‘The Voice’ this fall.

John Legend chimed in moments after she published her tweet showing his support for Ariana. The excited and supportive messages kept rolling in from the singer’s fans and the show in her comment section.

Nick’s Second Departure

Many fantastic artists have been a part of ‘The Voice’ judging panel over the years. Ariana will join the likes of Cristina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus, and Gwen Stefani in being a superstar judge on the show.

Although plenty of celebrity judges have come and gone over the years, we can’t help but notice this is Nick’s second exit. The ‘Jonas Brothers’ member didn’t return for season 19 but came back for the 20th.

“Nick will remain on rotation with other stars that have appeared on the show. The chances are he will be back soon,”

Says A Source At ‘The Voice’

Nick’s second departure did not come with a reason this time, but there seems to be no bad blood. A source at ‘The Voice’ told Page Six that they expect the ‘Levels’ singer to return at a later stage.

Nick Jonas also shared a message congratulating Ariana on her new position on the show. He took to Twitter to respond to Ariana’s announcement with a celebratory statement welcoming Ari to the family.

We can tell that Ariana’s position on ‘The Voice’ will be fabulous from the announcement picture. The ‘Positions’ singer will bring in her vocal expertise and her exquisite fashion sense, as showcased in the announcement.

Although the season 21 lineup for ‘The Voice’ is already locked down, there is still the 20th season to complete. Battle rounds for this season will commence April 5 and April 12 with Blake, Kelly, and John Legend.
