Bathrooms are one of the most essential rooms in our homes. Aside from our bedrooms, the bathroom is where we spend most of our time, and it, therefore, needs to be a functional and clean space.

However, because of the fact that it is almost always in use, it can become difficult to fully organize and clean your bathroom so that you have a clean and clutter-free space in which to live.

WomanlyLive is here to share some bathroom hacks with you that you didn’t know you needed.

Spice Rack Lotions

There is often limited space in bathrooms, which means that you need to maximize space as much as possible and have everything organized so that clutter doesn’t take up what little space you do have.

To do this, put up some spice racks in your bathroom, either on the walls or on the inside of the cabinet doors. You can store your lotions and other bottles here so that the inside of your cabinet has space for bigger things.

Vinegar Showers

The shower is a naturally humid place, and for this reason, a lot of mildew can grow around your showerhead. Mildew on the one thing that is meant to be keeping you clean is not something that you want to be happening.

Using vinegar to clean your showerhead will not only break down and eliminate mildew it will also ensure that it stays shiny and clean for much longer. You don’t have to do this every time you wash the showerhead; once every two weeks should be sufficient.

Shaving Foam Mirrors

Bathroom mirrors being fogged up when you’re trying to get ready for work can be annoying and trying to use your towel to wipe away the steam seems only to make things much worse.

However, if you use shaving foam to clean your mirrors, not only will they be beautifully shiny and extra reflective, they will also not mist up as quickly, making it easy for you to get ready for work.

Magazine Hairdryers

Hairdryers are often in the way in your dresser or your bathroom cabinet. It is such a bulky little piece of machinery and the cord always seems to be just a little bit too long to fit into anything neatly.

If you have this problem, go out and buy yourself a magazine rack. Place it on the inside of your cabinet door and lay your hairdryer upside down in there with the cord over the top. This makes for neat and hassle-free hairdryer storage.

Bicarbonate of Soda Toilets

To clean your toilet bowl might seem like the worst job in the world. It is naturally one of the dirtiest places in the bathroom simply because of the bacteria that it carries and is unpleasant to clean.

However, you can quickly and effectively clean your toilet by making a paste of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to scrub the inside and even the outside of the toilet. The acidity kills bacteria and helps to keep the toilet squeaky clean.

Ironing Shower

This hack is not really to do with the bathroom per se, but it does take place in the bathroom and might make other areas of your life much easier, especially if you’re like me and can’t iron to save your own life.

If you have a wrinkled shirt or a dress that hasn’t seen an iron in a while, take it into the bathroom with you while you shower. The steam from the shower will iron out the creases without you having to lift a finger.

Grapefruit Faucets

Grapefruits are incredibly acidic citrus fruit, which makes them delicious and a great addition to your cleaning products. It might seem a little strange, but it is a tried and tested method of cleaning.

If you have stubborn stains on your faucets, try using grapefruit to rub over the stained spot until it has lifted somewhat, and then use your regular cleaning products to clean it off once and for all. A bonus about this is that the grapefruit will make the faucet shine like the day you bought it.

Magnetic Bobby Pins

I don’t know about you, but I lose about 100% of the bobby pins that I buy, and most of them have been lost in my bathroom just before I get in the shower. You take them out of your hair before you wash it, you get out of the shower, and it’s like they’ve grown legs and run away.

You can fix this problem by inserting a magnetic strip into your bathroom cabinet so that as you take the bobby pins out of your hair, you can stick them to the magnetic strip and never have to worry about losing them again.

Bookshelf Doors

As I have said before, maximizing space in your bathroom is very important because of the limited space that bathrooms have. This means that you need to use all the storage space that you have effectively.

Many people forget that the area around their bathroom door is usually wasted space and can be used as storage. Taking a bookshelf and hollowing out the middle so that only the sides and top are still present and placing it around your bathroom door will make for extra storage space.

Toothbrush Grout

One thing that can either make or break a freshly cleaned bathroom is whether the grout has been adequately cleaned. If your grout looks dirty, it can throw off the entire look of your bathroom.

To ensure that your grout is adequately cleaned, place some bicarbonate of soda and vinegar paste onto a toothbrush and clean every nook and cranny. You can then wash the tiles and grout as usual, and you will instantly notice a difference.
