During an interview with Oprah, Elliot Page talks about his life-changing experience with the transition surgery and its importance to the transgender community.

After being the Time magazine cover last month, Elliot Page sat with Oprah Winfrey in an honest and raw interview.

Elliot is one of the most important faces in the transgender community. He told Oprah how important and crucial his surgery is when the trans youth community has been facing “horrible backlashes.”

Page shared his vulnerability emotionally with Oprah, and with more than 3 million views on his Instagram page, he said:

"With deep respect for those who came before me, gratitude for those who have supported me, and great concern for the generation of trans youth we must all protect, please join me and decry anti-trans legislation, hate, and discrimination in all its forms.”

The Canadian actor said that he feels comfortable in his body for the very first time. Page also stressed that the opportunity he had with the interview with Oprah was valuable to talk about his experience and resources he has access to, whether it’s therapy or surgery, to feel alive.

In another interview with the transgender journalist Thomas Page McBee for Vanity Fair, he feels more productive and grounded in himself, which will positively affect his acting as well.

“I'm fully who I am,” says the Time cover, the 34-year-old actor who is one of the most important voices on the trans youth community.

“Being present’s ultimately what you’re going for,” he said, “so I’m imagining the more I get to embody who I am and exist in the body I want to exist in, there’ll be a difference.”

Elliot Page also opened up about his choice of being homosexual from a very young age. He said he knew he "was a boy" since he was a kid, and that manifested in every aspect of his life.

He publically came out as gay in 2014, saying to an audience in Las Vegas that he "was tired of hiding and tired of lying by omission."

The actor became internationally famous in 2007 when he starred in the movie Juno as a pregnant teenager. Other significant films include Inception and the X-Men series, while the actor has more recently starred in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy.
