Exploring Healthy Skin Habits

We all want healthy and beautifully clear skin. There is nothing better than having your skin look and feel healthy rather than dealing with breakouts or painful acne. Healthy skin usually makes for happy people.

While many people think that the secret to healthy skin is a seven-step nighttime skincare routine, it is a little more complicated than that. It is essential to have a skincare routine, but that’s not all that will keep your skin clear.

Here are some healthy skin habits that you should adopt for clearer and healthier skin. 

Pillowcases

We spend an average of eight hours a day laying on a pillowcase, and while you can ensure that your face doesn’t touch the pillowcase when you’re awake, there’s no accounting for what happens when you’re asleep. 

For this reason, you should be sleeping on silk or satin pillowcases that are changed once a week. This will ensure that you are not allowing any bacteria to stay on your pillowcases for too long and that the fabric is not abrasive to your skin. 

Cleansing

Healthy skincare habits include skincare habits, too. You should be cleansing your face every single day, especially if you have done a particularly difficult workout or worn makeup during the day. 

If you have a significant amount of product or debris buildup on your skin, it is a good idea to double cleanse. First, with an oil-based cleanser and then with a normal cleanser. This will ensure that your skin is 100% clean. 

Massage

You must know the feeling of walking out of a 60 minute back, neck and shoulder massage and feeling absolutely blissful. This is a feeling that your face should have at least once a week for it to stay healthy. 

Find a facial massage that you can complete at home. Doing this will allow more blood to flow into the face, and your skin will be plumper and brighter. You can get these massages done at salons, too. 

Screens

Your phone is one of the dirtiest places. It is constantly in contact with different surfaces and can become an extremely filthy place for your face to be anywhere near. We often don’t even think about that, though. 

Cleaning any screen that comes into contact with your face is one of the best things that you can do to ensure that you keep your skin healthy. The bacteria buildup that comes with a screen is huge, and you should never be putting this close to your face. 

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are the skincare buzzword of the month and for a good reason. Antioxidants are one of the most important things you can include in your skincare routine, whether it be a simple or complicated series of products. 

Find the antioxidant step that works for you and include it in your skincare routine so that your skin stays healthy and bright. You can add antioxidants to whatever skincare routine you already have. 

Squeezing

We know how tempting it is not to squeeze every spot that you see on your skin, especially since it’s even more fun to pretend you’re ‘Dr. Pimple Popper’ while you do it, but you need to adopt a healthy skin habit. 

Instead of picking at the spots that you see, find yourself a spot treatment or spot patches that you can place over the spots so that they clear up on their own without you having to touch them at all. 

Consistency

One of the most important skin habits to adopt is consistency. Your skin cannot handle forty new products each week. You should find a skincare routine that works for you and do it consistently every day. 

Doing this will prevent your skin from becoming overly sensitive to products and allow your skin to settle into a routine to avoid things like unexplained breakouts. 

Sleep

Resting your body is essential for all of your body processes to be completed in the way they need to. Knowing this, it is obvious that your skin needs rest to be able to regenerate as well. 

Getting enough sleep every night is the first step toward gorgeous skin, but you also need to get a good sleep quality to have your skin be healthy and bright. Ensure that you can rest well each night. 

Eat

Everything that happens in our bodies starts in our guts. Your bodily functions depend heavily on everything that you eat and drink in a day. Knowing this, you should be eating and drinking everything that will nourish you. 

If you have a healthy diet and drink enough water, your skin will be healthy too. However, if you have an unhealthy diet, your skin will likely suffer because of it, and you will experience oily skin and breakouts. 

Exfoliation

Many people struggle to understand skincare. Even though you shouldn’t use abrasive exfoliants on your skin, such as exfoliating beads, your skin still needs to be exfoliated at least once a week. 

You can exfoliate your skin by using things such as chemical peels or other chemical exfoliants that will exfoliate your skin without causing micro-tears in your skin.
