You start by brewing a cup of coffee from some freshly ground beans. Then in a blender, add your coffee with a tablespoon of MCT, which is a healthy fat found either in palm kernel oil or coconut oil.

Add a tablespoon or two of unsalted butter. You can choose to use a dairy alternative butter too. Blitz it all together and enjoy your breakfast in a mug!

When following a low-carb diet like the keto diet, your body has to use fats as energy sources rather than carbs. So to give yourself the energy, you need a bulletproof coffee!

There are also tons of benefits tied to the coffee itself! Coffee is loaded with antioxidants, and it helps improve your mental focus and alertness!

What Are The Down Sides?

Bulletproof coffee is supposed to be a meal replacement; however, it’s not safe to survive on nothing but liquids every morning. So you’ll need to make substitutes for the nutrients you’re not getting in your cup of coffee.

Having two tablespoons of butter in the morning contains more saturated fats than the American Heart Association recommends. Unfortunately, butter also increases your cholesterol levels, and both high levels of cholesterol and saturated fats put you at risk for heart disease!

You can still enjoy your bulletproof coffee, but you should do so in moderation! It might be a delicious breakfast, but it’s one you have to wary of!
