Deciding to make lifestyle changes for your health doesn’t always guarantee weight loss. In fact, weight loss does not need to be the center of your fitness or health goals!

The idea of weight loss can lead to mental health issues and even result in making diet choices that end up being bad for your health. So what are some tips from people who’ve reached their goals?

1. Start in your comfort zone


You don’t have to throw yourself into a gym full of people from day one, especially if that’s not what you’re comfortable with! Do whatever makes you feel comfortable, even if it’s just walking around the block of your home!

2. Eat what you want

If you’re craving something, don’t deprive yourself of it, you want your journey to be a healthy one. Your diet should also be one you can stick to long-term, so don’t go cutting the junk food because when you go back, you won’t like the results!

3. Give yourself a break

If you overdo the junk food or even oversleeping, it is not the end of the world! You deserve a break; you deserve to lie in and even the junk food, so why deprive yourself?

Many people let their social lives suffer because of their diet or exercise routines. They fear breaking the schedule, but it’s completely okay to let yourself have a break once in a while; it won’t deter you from your goal!

4. Get yourself some support

Support helps keep you focused, and sometimes all you need is a bit of encouragement to make it to your gym sesh! So gather your friends and family and even follow Instagram accounts to keep you motivated.

5. Take it one day at a time


Stay focused on today; doing what you can today leaves your tomorrows open for newer and more challenging opportunities! If you don’t feel like doing a whole workout, do what you can!

You don’t have to start heavy lifting in your first week of gyming; you can progress to that point when you have the strength. You don’t even have to cut too much out of your diet; you just need to make healthier substitutions!

If the change is what scares you, then start by making smaller changes. The little things make all the difference, so if it scares you to commit to the gym, then start with walking until you’re confident enough to go to the gym.

Sometimes you feel like where you are is too far from where you want to be. Don’t let that deter you! You can start at any time and make progress every day to reach your goal, don’t give up just yet!

You just have to keep moving forward and stop worrying about how far away you are from your goal. You don’t want to be overwhelmed and quitting when you can be just whelmed and winning!

8. Don’t starve yourself

While you might look to diets to cut your weight down drastically, most of them involve stringent diet regimens that you can hardly stray from. It’s not worth it if you’re going hungry!

While trying to lose weight, your body is going to reach a point where you get used to the exercise, and your weight will plateau. Don’t let it discourage you; keep it moving, and you’ll notice real results in no time!

The road to a healthier you isn’t going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it when you look in the mirror at the happier and healthier version of yourself. Your journey doesn’t have to be about the weight either it can just be about your health!
