We all love the idea of smooth skin, no blemishes, just skin you can run your hands over without it feeling rough! But to keep your skin as smooth as glass, you need to keep those pores from getting clogged all summer long!

The weather conditions affect our skin; in winter, we have trouble with dryness, but in summer, we’re greeted with warm temperatures all season long! However, with the heat comes a truckload of problems that clog your pores!

Sweating is natural, especially in the summer heat, but it also clogs up our pores and results in pesky breakouts! The trick is to make sure your pores aren’t staying clogged; here’s what you can do to keep your pores unclogged all summer long.

1. Double Cleanse

The Korean skincare step ensures your face is left makeup and dirt-free! Double cleansing is first using an oil-based cleanser and then following it with a water-based cleanser. It keeps your pores free from makeup and other dirt throughout the day!

2. Use a facial steamer

The steam works by loosening the dirt that could be clogging up your pores. You should steam your face before you cleanse but make sure not to overdo it either because it can dehydrate your skin!

3. Exfoliate

Every day you shed skin cells, sweat, wear makeup, and are exposed to dirt and dust. All these things get stuck in your pores and can leave them clogged, which leads to breakouts and rough skin.

Make sure to exfoliate your skin at least once a week using a gentle scrub. You can choose different products, but make sure that it doesn’t irritate your skin, or it could worsen the breakouts.

Sometimes your skincare products are loaded with oils that add to the oils naturally produced by your skin. It can leave your skin greasy and end up clogging your freshly cleaned pores.

Opt for lighter moisturizers that are water-based because they’ll leave you feeling less greasy. Ensure your sunscreen is light because, during summer, we need extra sun protection. If you’re going to be out all day, you’ll want to lather up on something that’s not going to irritate your skin.

Retinol is the miracle serum taking over the skincare market right now. It shrinks your oil glands so that you don’t have to suffer from excess oil production! Be sure only to use it at night to keep your skin well-protected from sun damage!

6. Lookout for wax

Wax is used in moisturizers to mix the oils with liquids, but wax clogs your pores. Instead of using a moisturizer, you can hydrate your skin with a facial mist and then seal in the hydration with an oil serum, which is light and breathable for your skin.

7. Hydrate

Just like your body needs hydration, your skin needs it too. Because being out in the sun all day is dehydrating, you’ll need to replenish the lost moisture.

Keep a facial mist handy to rehydrate your skin from the surface. With these tips, your skin should be smooth in no time aside from the occasional breakout, because let’s face it, you just can’t avoid them!
