Billie Eilish: The Girl Who Built A Whole Career Before Turning 19

Billie Eilish may only be 19 years old, but she is already a significant force to be reckoned with. The teenage superstar started her breakout career from her childhood home, and now she fills stadiums.

Celebrities always seem to have such extraordinary come-up stories, and they are all very inspiring. Billie and her brother Finneas grew up in a home filled with music and creativity, which sparked their successful careers.

This year, Billie has millions of fans, several hit songs, multiple Grammy awards, and a documentary. Read further to see how Billie’s career skyrocketed when she was barely a teenager and changed her life forever.

Along Came Billie

Billie Eilish was born and raised by her parents in Los Angeles with her older brother Finneas. The superstar singer recollects being homeschooled, attending dance class, and working at a horse camp in many interviews.

One of the most significant aspects of Billie’s childhood is how musical her home was. Her mother is a music teacher, and her brother also sings and plays instruments which encouraged her musical ear.

In 2015, Billie’s brother Finneas wrote Ocean Eyes when Billie was only 13 years old. The song, written initially for Finneas’s band, became the teenager’s first hit single after gaining traction on Soundcloud.

By 2016, Ocean Eyes launched Billie’s name onto the entertainment industry radar. The 14-year old’s voice featured in the film ‘Everything, Everything’ and the first season of the Netflix series ’13 Reasons Why’.

Grammy Worthy Debut

With Ocean Eyes’ success, Billie and Finneas were encouraged to record an E.P. Her 2017 project entitled ‘don’t smile at me’ showed off the singer’s unique tone, mature subject matter, and edgy personality.

From her E.P. alone, Billie gained millions of fans and media attention unfamiliar to a 15-year-old. Fortunately, Billie had her brother and family guide her through some of the darker times during this period.

In 2019, Billie released her first album, ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ and was an instant hit. Billie broke charting records with the single ‘Bad Guy’ and created a signature look that others can’t replicate.

In 2020, Billie made history as the youngest person to win all top four Grammy awards in one year. Her first album ever introduced her to the world as one of the most groundbreaking artists of her generation.

The World’s A Little Blurry

Six years after her debut single’s success, Billie is one of the world’s most influential stars. Although Billie has all of the fame and success one could wish for, she still goes through life as a regular teen.

Recently, Billie released a documentary that gives an intimate look into her life from 2018 until today. We see Billie’s career ideations in her journal, and we also see a lot of her personal life, whether good or bad.

Eilish reveals that she struggled as a younger teenager and self-harmed with blades hidden in different places. We also see some of Billie’s insecurities get the best of her, which is surprising for such a talented artist.

We learn that Billie can overcome anything from troubled love life to mental health issues from the documentary. If this is what she can do all before turning 19 years old, we can’t wait to see what she’ll do next.
