Melissa McCarthy Recalls Being 'Flipped Off' For Wearing A Tracksuit To An Oscars After-Party
Melissa McCarthy says that she was "flipped off" multiple times at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, but it was done "jokingly."
The American actor and comedian, Melissa McCarthy continues to march to the beat of her own drum. While other celebrities went off to dress to the absolute nines, for the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, McCarthy had other plans.
In her April cover story for InStyle, the "Bridesmaids” star recalls the time she and her husband Ben Falcone wore matching Adidas tracksuits to the event.

At an event where most people are in black tie, the fifty-year-old had a spark of genius and decided to throw a curveball instead.
“I’m sure it threw everybody into a tizzy because the idea came to me the day before the Oscars. I asked, ‘Can we wear matching tracksuits?’ And someone was like, ‘For tomorrow? Like, that both fit?’ It’s not that easy.”

McCarthy added that she "just wanted to be in tennies and tracksuits. She further explained that "it just seemed so funny to me and so comfortable.”

It was when she and forty-seven-year-old Falcone made their way onto the red carpet; the couple attracted more than just a little attention.
"I have never been flipped off or told to f—k off as much as at that party, and it was all done, uh, jokingly, but also with something real behind it.”

She reminisces on the evening, revealing the following the ceremony, "everyone put on a different dress and different heels. They just totally were like, ‘You go f— yourself [for wearing a tracksuit].'”

McCarthy responded to the envious remarks in an equally joking spirit saying: “Oh, OK, I’m going to go dance pretty hard right now.”
