'She Took His Whole Face': Heath Ledger's Daughter Matilda, 20, Wows Fans with Her Resemblance to Dad in Rare Outing – Pics

Recent photos of Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams' 20-year-old daughter looking happy in New York have ignited a lively online discussion: does she resemble her dad or mom?

Matilda Ledger stepped out in Brooklyn, capturing attention for her style and prompted netizens to wonder whether she takes after her late father, Heath Ledger, or her famous mother, Michelle Williams.

In the photos shared by Page Six, Matilda exudes effortless charm as she strolls through the city with a coffee in hand. Dressed in a green puffer jacket, baggy denim jeans with rolled cuffs, and red shoes, she oozed a laid-back style that perfectly matched her radiant smile.

Walking alongside her companion, Matilda appears relaxed and carefree, her energy lighting up the chilly Brooklyn.

A closer snapshot highlights her vibrant personality and natural beauty, with her loose, light brown hair framing her face. Fans quickly pointed out her uncanny resemblance to her parents.

One admirer gushed, "wow [sic], she really does look so much like him." Another chimed, "I think she looks just like her mom." Others found her an exquisite blend of both parents, "She a beautiful mix of both, i think. The resemblance is undeniable, to mom and dad [sic]."

Another fan observed, "The eyes are her dad's," while someone else remarked, "She looks exactly like Heath." The comparisons didn't stop there as one admirer summed up the sentiment, "Daddy's face with mama's smile❤️."

Some fans saw a clear resemblance to her mother, noting that Matilda's facial features mirror Michelle's. Others were struck by her likeness to Heath, pointing out how her overall appearance reflects his charm.

Bridging the debate, many admired how Matilda embodies the best of both parents, describing her as a "doll" and a "perfect mix of her mama and daddy."

Someone reflected on the emotional challenges Matilda faced after losing her father at such a young age, highlighting the resilience she has shown over the years.

This rare sighting isn't the only time Matilda has been seen recently. In August 2024, she was seen in New York City with her mom, walking hand-in-hand. Matilda stood out in an all-white ensemble, while Michelle stunned in a yellow printed dress, showcasing their chic but contrasting styles.

The mother-daughter duo's public outing highlights the close bond Michelle has nurtured with her daughter. After Heath's untimely passing at 28 on January 22, 2008, in a New York City apartment due to an accidental overdose, Michelle chose to raise their daughter, Matilda, away from the spotlight.

Michelle and the Australian actor had been together from 2004 to 2007 after meeting on the set of "Brokeback Mountain." Beyond Michelle's steadfast care, Matilda has been surrounded by a network of love and support from those closest to her father.

In 2017, at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of "I Am Heath Ledger," his family and friends gathered to celebrate his life and share heartfelt memories. Among them was Heath's longtime friend, Matt Amato.

Matt recalled his first encounter with Heath and Matilda just days after her birth. He described the actor's calm approach to fatherhood, adding, "He wasn't treating her in any precious way, he was just natural and just trusted the whole thing, and I was really struck by that. And that's kind of how it always was."

Matt likened Heath and his daughter's bond to a "beautiful painting." The documentary also explored Heath's complex relationship with fame and Hollywood. His older sister, Kate Ledger, and half-sister, Ashleigh Bell, revealed how uncomfortable Heath felt with the demands of stardom.

Kate explained, "To make the film is the fun part. To promote it is work, and I think that's what he really struggled with, was putting himself out there and being a salesman and promoting the film."

Matt echoed Heath's disdain for Hollywood's performative side. He recalled, "He came over the morning after the Academy Awards still in his tux with his tie undone and he opens up the door and he goes, 'Rubbish!' So he would hate this, too."

Matt added that Heath found greater fulfillment in making films about the people he cared about rather than seeing his own life depicted.

While netizens debate over whom Matilda resembles continues, one thing remains clear: she carries the legacy of Michelle and Heath Ledger, growing up with love and honoring her father's memory.
