Water is an essential part of our daily routine, and it is even critical for our health. Dehydration does not only affect our heart and lung health, but also has an impact on our sleep and rest levels.


Following a healthy lifestyle has become a top priority for many people, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. However, we still don't bother giving much thought to how much water we need to consume on a daily basis.

While it is easier to stay hydrated in summers, the problem arises when winters approach and we don't feel so thirsty. Find out how you can keep yourself hydrated, regardless of the weather; and what other supplementary ingredients can keep your hydration levels balanced.

Keep A Water Bottle

It sounds too old school, mainly if you're staying at home, but carrying a water bottle can help keep you hydrated. Keep your water bottle close and try to consume water after every hour or so, to maintain healthy H2O levels in your body.

You can also carry your water bottle during your workouts, and even when you step outside of your home for a walk or grocery shopping. In this way, you will be able to consume water at your convenience.

The one thing we are less likely to forget is our smartphone, which stays with us nearly all the time. You can set a reminder on your phone to drink water at hourly or an hour and a half intervals, and build a hydration routine.

Drink Water Before Sleeping And After Waking Up

The easiest thing to follow is monitoring your water intake when you wake up in the morning and right before sleeping. When you drink water first thing in the morning, it will stimulate your mind to give an automatic signal to your body, and help set the tone for the rest of the day.


Consuming water right before you doze off can help regulate your sleep cycle and also ensure healthy functioning of the internal organs. Staying hydrated also helps fight acne, blemishes and dry patches on the skin and makes it appear naturally radiant and youthful.

Opt For Substitute Drinks

You can opt for fresh juices, lemonades, soups and herbal tea to keep your water level in check. These delicious substitutes are not only rich in H2O, but they also come packed with nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals to make you feel energized.

Another way to keep your body hydrated is by choosing healthy alternatives, like vegetables and fruits that are rich in water. Drinking enough water throughout the day may not be possible for everyone, so consuming water-rich foods can help balance things out.

Cucumbers, green and leafy veggies, tomatoes and zucchini are great sources of water, minerals and vitamins. Adding smart alternate options to your daily diet can make a lot of difference in helping you stay healthy and hydrated.
