Now sunglasses deserve their glory; they keep the sun out of your eyes while you’re out and about. However, they might be the reason you keep breaking out and keeping you from the flawless skin you’re after!

We all hate breakouts and want to avoid them as much as possible. But sometimes, no matter the elaborate skincare routine, you still can’t get rid of the breakouts!

Well, there might be one nasty culprit you’ve never looked at, your sunglasses! They’re an absolute essential when the sun’s out, but they can lead to those pesky breakouts you want to avoid!

Whether it’s to the beach or the shops, sunglasses are an essential summer accessory. No one wants to have the sun beating down on them and be blinded, so they go everywhere we do!

Your sunglasses are in direct contact with your skin when you wear them. And in summer, we’re no stranger to sweat!

Along with sweat, your skin is constantly producing oils and also getting rid of old skin cells! That gets transferred onto your sunglasses, and while you’re wearing them, you’re transferring all that dirt back onto your skin!

But you can also get a special type of acne from your sunglasses called acne mechanica. It’s caused by the friction of your sunglasses on your skin which leads to breakouts!

Your skin has no time to recover from the friction because we’re always wearing our shades. But if you don’t want to be blinded by the sun, you can’t just ditch your sunglasses!

So what do you do? First, make sure that your sunglasses don’t rub against your face, which happens if they’re large frames. If your shades are causing friction when you talk or smile, maybe it’s time to let them go!

You can find glasses with nose pads that allow your shades to sit on your nose and keep them from rubbing against your skin. You can also change the shape of glasses; the larger they are, the more friction they’ll cause.

You can also try keeping your face and your glasses clean. Double cleanse your face to get all the gunk from the hot day off so that your pores don’t get clogged.

Try and wash your glasses with soap and water after every use. But if you can’t, you can wipe them down with an alcohol wipe to clean the dirt off after using them.

It does require a bit of commitment, but you have to put in the work if you’re after flawless skin! Even if you don’t remember to clean them at night, try to clean them before you put them on in the morning so your skin can stay flawless with nothing to hide under those shades!
