Miranda Knows Her Husband Is a Handsome Man, and She's Not Shy About It

Oh, Miranda! Some women send flowers. Others give their husbands a birthday kiss. Miranda decided to remind everyone just how handsome hers is.

The "Mama's Broken Heart" singer celebrated Brendan's big day with an affectionate Instagram carousel, and her caption made it quite clear that seven years of marriage haven't dampened her enthusiasm for the man.

"Happy Birthday @brendanjmcloughlin 35 looks good on you! Well everything looks good on you but that smile is my favorite! I love you!" she wrote. Well, Miranda, that's quite the endorsement from the woman who gets to admire him every morning!

And she certainly gave everyone else an opportunity to appreciate her husband's considerable charms, sharing pictures and videos from their life together. But before getting into all those goodies, we simply MUST discuss the response to Miranda's choice of birthday pictures.

Because some admirers were looking at Brendan and thinking about the men who came before him. On Instagram, one particularly enthusiastic admirer exclaimed, "Gurl, you did a major upgrade [sic]! 🔥🔥🔥" Another agreed, "You upgraded very well.👏🏽🥳😍"

Of course, comments about an "upgrade" inevitably bring Miranda's romantic past into the conversation. And the country star certainly had a few chapters in her love life before a handsome New York police officer swept her off her feet.

Before Brendan, Miranda's Love Life Had Some Seriously Rocky Chapters

Long before she was happily posing with Brendan, Miranda had experienced the sort of romantic ups and downs that could furnish an entire country music album.

Her earlier dating history included Jeff McManus, whom she dated from 2002 to 2005. That relationship belonged to a much earlier period in her life, before another country singer became her husband and her marriage attracted enormous public attention.

That man, of course, was Blake Shelton. Miranda and Blake were together for approximately a decade, including five years of dating before their 2011 wedding in Texas. With two hugely successful country singers exchanging vows, the ceremony was a major celebrity occasion.

For a while, they seemed like country music royalty. Their shared profession, public appearances, and marriage made them one of Nashville's most recognizable couples.

But in July 2015, only two months after celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary, the pair announced that they were divorcing. "This is not the future we envisioned," their representatives said in a joint statement.

Both stars had enjoyed enormous success, but their marriage had also been lived under the scrutiny that comes with being two of country music's biggest names. Miranda would later explain how profoundly that experience changed her attitude toward sharing her romantic life with the public.

First, however, there were more relationships to come. Following her divorce, Miranda began dating musician Anderson East in 2015. Their romance lasted approximately two years before reports of their separation emerged in 2018.

According to Us Weekly, the couple had been spending considerable time apart. A source close to Miranda explained, "They have spent a lot of time apart, but potentially could end up back together. The love is still there."

So there was apparently still affection between them, even though their relationship had reached an uncertain point. Back then, the singer had also been speaking candidly about heartbreak during a concert in Knoxville, Tennessee, discussing how painful romantic experiences influenced her songwriting.

And really, if anyone could transform a bruised heart into a country music anthem, it was Miranda Lambert.

Her next romance was with Evan Felker, the Turnpike Troubadours frontman, whom she dated from approximately February to August 2018. That relationship proved short-lived, too.

By August, Miranda was embracing her independence. The singer described herself as "happily single," the Tennessean reported, while remaining open to whatever romance might bring her next. And goodness, romance had something rather gorgeous waiting around the corner!

Just a few months later, the country superstar would encounter a man who had absolutely no idea his working day was about to introduce him to his future wife.

A Handsome NYPD Officer Was About to Change Everything

Picture it: November 2018, New York City. Miranda was promoting music with her country trio, the Pistol Annies, which included her friends Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The group had an appearance on "Good Morning America," where a certain police officer happened to be working security.

Enter Brendan, the Staten Island-raised NYPD officer who would soon become considerably more important to Miranda than anyone could have imagined. And here's the best part: Miranda's girlfriends spotted him first!

During an interview with The New York Times in October 2019, Miranda happily spilled the details of how the unlikely introduction came about. "My girlfriends, the Annies, saw him and knew I might be ready to hang out with someone. They invited him to our show behind my back. They plucked him for me," she explained.

The attraction developed quickly, with the couple going from that November meeting to a secret wedding on January 26, 2019, at a farm outside Nashville, Tennessee. Miranda kept the whole thing private, revealing the happy news weeks later on Valentine's Day.

"In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan McLoughlin for loving me for.... Me [sic]," she announced.

After Their Secret Wedding

And although Brendan was seven years younger than his new wife, Miranda seemed completely unconcerned about anything except the happiness she'd found with him.

In October 2019, she opened up to People about how she worked to protect this relationship. "I was married before, and it was a huge wedding, and everything was very public. So was my divorce," she explained.

"I learned then that it’s not for everybody else. This is my actual life. With Brendan, I made it a point to keep it as private as I could for as long as I could."

Still In Bliss Years Later

And when his 35th birthday arrived in October, Miranda was clearly ready to celebrate her favorite traveling companion all over again. Only this time, the pictures came with some cheeky surprises.

Shirtless Brendan, a Poolside Pose, and Fans Who Were Feeling THIRSTY

Among the highlights was a photograph of Brendan posing poolside, looking fully relaxed and giving admirers a very good reason to appreciate his physique. And yes, ladies, Miranda led with a shirtless photograph.

Was that intentional? Only the birthday boy's wife knows for certain. But some fans were positively delighted with her choice. One appreciative admirer declared, "Nice view girlfriend 🙌." Another made a point of thanking Miranda personally, writing, "Thanks for leading with the shirtless photo for us @mirandalambert 🔥"

There were also shots of Brendan fishing and riding a jet ski, showing that the former New York police officer has plenty of enthusiasm for outdoor adventures. And then there were the glimpses of him simply being a loving husband.

In one especially sweet video, Brendan helped Miranda replace her sneakers. Handsome AND helpful? Miranda, we're beginning to understand your enthusiasm! Another clip showed him driving Miranda and their dog, giving admirers another peek at their life together away from the stage.

But for pure entertainment, it's difficult to beat the video of Miranda serenading her husband while he fixed his hair. The country star decided to perform a personalized version of Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas," transforming the song into a playful little Vegas number about Brendan.

"He’s in Vegas I can tell by the way he wants to leave the room," she sang. "And judgin’ by the smile that’s written on his face, he’s got a lot to lose."

Brendan, clearly enjoying the performance, laughed and replied, "That's true." Between the cheeky singing, the affectionate little gestures, and Brendan's obvious comfort in front of his wife's camera, the birthday tribute captured a relationship that appears to be full of laughter.

And fans certainly weren't finished having their own fun. Over on Facebook, one person seemed surprised by just how youthful Brendan looked, commenting, "35? He’s just a baby still." Someone else went considerably further with the age-gap observations, asking, "Is that her son?"

Another admirer was more interested in congratulating the singer on her romantic choices. "Def an upgrade my fellow Texas girl ! [sic]" the person exclaimed.

And there it was again: that word "upgrade." Clearly, some of Miranda's admirers have very strong opinions about the difference between her romantic past and her handsome husband.

Of course, nobody outside the relationship gets to decide who was right for Miranda. But judging by how enthusiastically she celebrates Brendan, the singer herself seems awfully pleased with how her love life worked out.

And honestly, isn't it rather fabulous to see her having so much fun? Happy birthday, Brendan! And Miranda, please don't ever lose that generous spirit when it comes to the photo albums.
