The royal family turns heads wherever they go, even when they’re out on a casual stroll. But they surely steal all the spotlight on those rare occasions when they decide to grace award functions, and BAFTAs have been quite lucky in this regard. 

The British Academy Film Awards have been around for 74 years. This year, Prince Philip was honored at the BAFAs, after his demise last Friday. The late Duke of Edinburgh served as BAFTAs’ president from 1959 to 1965.

Princess Anne attended the 1971 Society of Film and Television Arts Awards, which later became the BAFTAs in 1976. She opted for a collared dress with a white waist belt and choker necklace. She also became the president of the SFTAs.

Princess Anne graced the BAFTAs once again in 1977, where she wore an accordion-pleated dress with flowing sleeves. She wore her hair in a dream updo-style bun and accessorized her look with a bracelet and earrings.

The royal princess attended the BAFTAs for the third time in the year 1984. She chose a black and white printed dress for the occasion, which she beautifully paired with a pearl jewelry set.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stunned with their sartorial style at the 2018 BAFTAs. Kate Middleton picked a dark green Jenny Packham dress with a black sash and paired it with a matching emerald necklace and earrings.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were quite the forces to be reckoned with at the 2019 BAFTAs. Middleton mesmerized in her one-shoulder white Alexander McQueen gown at the 2019 BAFTAs. She also accessorized her look with diamond and pearl drop earrings, which had originally belonged to Princess Diana.
